Army plans special pensions for 1965, 1971 war veterans: Gen Naravane


  • The Indian Army has proposed special pensions to be given to Emergency Commissioned and Short Service Commissioned officers who had fought in the 1965 and 1971 wars fought against Pakistan.

  • Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Day is observed on 14 January every year. This day was started in 2017. This day was initially celebrated as Armistice Day. The day is celebrated on the day of his retirement to mark the outstanding contribution of Field Marshal KM Karippa - who was the first Commander-in-Chief of the Army. Fourth Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Day will be celebrated at Chandimandir Cantonment located at Panchkula in Haryana district.
  • Commemoration of Armed Forces Veterans Day acknowledges and honours the selfless devotion and sacrifice of our veterans in the service of the nation.
