MP or Member of Parliament is a representative of the voters who speak in the Parliament on behalf of the peoples of his area. In India, numerous MPs belong to different political parties.
In India, the Parliament is divided into two houses:
- Lok Sabha, which is also known as the Lower House or the House of People.
- Rajya Sabha, which is also known as the Upper house.
Two houses of parliament in detail:
- Rajya Sabha
The maximum number of members is 250 [In the current situation there are only 245 members from which 12 are appointed by the President].
Duties of this house:
- Passing the laws.
- Analyzing the performance of the party which is in power.
- To approve the expenditures proposed by the government.
- To bring the voice of people in the parliament.
- Make laws of state or national level.
- Lok Sabha
The maximum numbers of members are 552 from which 530 are representatives from states and 20 from Union Territories and the remaining 2 are appointed by the President.
Currently, there are 545 members from which 530 are state representatives 13 are from union territories and 2 are appointed by the President.
Duties of this house:
- To pass the laws
- Ensuring that the ruling party performs all duties well.
- To bring views of people in the parliament.
- To approve the revenues forth by the government.
