National Recruitment Agency got Approval from Union cabinet

On 19th August 2020, Union Cabinet approved the setup of the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) for conducting the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for the recruitment of non-gazetted officer posts in central government and public sector banks.
Prime Minister said,' NRA will prove to be a book for crores of youngsters. Through the CET, it will eliminate multiple tests and save a big boost to transparency.'
Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the approval of CET by union cabinet will prove out to be very beneficial for the youth of the country seeking for government jobs.
Introduction to NRA
- NRA society will be responsible for the conduct of Computer-based common eligibility tests for the selection of non-gazetted posts and it is going to be a single entrance examination for all non-gazetted posts such as group B and C.
- The NRA society will comprise of representatives of SSC, IBPS, and RRB.
- There will be 1000 examination centers, including 117 inspirational districts.
- The CET fees will be the same as other government exams.
- CET will be conducted twice a year and there will be no limited number of attempts.
Purpose of NRA
Every year crores of candidates appear in different exams conducted by a different department. NRA will conduct only a single exam for all departments and the result will be used by the different agencies. This will lead to a reduction in cost, effort, and time of the candidates.
No. of Attempts Allowed
Candidates can appear for the exam for any number of times till his eligible age allows. Relaxation will be provided to reserved categories as per the policies of the Government.
Curriculum
The curriculum of the CET will be the same as the standard level.
Advantages of the CET:
- The CET will reduce the time consumption in the selection process.
- Candidates will not have to bother about preparing for multiple exams. They will only prepare for CET for any department recruitment with similar eligibility criteria.
- It will be a good opportunity for rural, underprivileged candidates and women.
- Candidates spend separately for the examination of different department exams. Now they have to spend only once.
