IBPS PO Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

IBPS PO 2020 exam pattern comprise of 3 stage- Preliminary exam, Main Exam, and Interview Round having different patterns. Preliminary exam include English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability sections while Main exam include the General Awareness and computer aptitude sections in addition with English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability sections. Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability sections of both the exams have different difficulty level.
Prelims is just a qualifying exam, final result depends on the scores obtained in main exam and interview. IBPS OP 2020 will be organised in online mode.

According to experts, around 2 lakhs students are expected to sit in the IBPS PO 2020 exam.
Some key changes in IBPS PO 2020 exam pattern
Exam pattern for IBPS PO 2020 is majorly same as previous year but IBPS have introduced few changes in 2020.
- The duration of main examination has increased to 3 hours 30 minutes.
- The number of questions has decreased to 155. Earlier it was to be 200.
- Computer awareness section has been changed into computer aptitude and is merged with reasoning ability.
- Quantitative Aptitude’ section is re-introduces as Data Interpretation and Analysis’ which will now include data interpretation questions also.
- English section of IBPS PO 2020 main examination will include descriptive paper with essay writing and letter writing questions.
- The weightage of English descriptive paper will be 25 marks and time duration will be 30 minutes.
- Difficulty level of examination may rise due to increased duration and decreased number of questions.

IBPS PO 2020 prelims exam pattern in detail
Mode of examination: IBPS PO 2020 preliminary examination will be organised in online mode only.
Sections: IBPS PO 2020 Preliminary examination will comprise of 3 sections- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning.
Duration of exam: 1 hour (60 minutes).
Types of question: All the questions will be MCQ types with 5 options and only one will be the correct answer.
Marking scheme: Candidates will get 1 mark for every correct answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Language of exam: Questions will be in English language only for English section while in other sections question will be in English and Hindi languages.
Important points for IBPS PO 2020 preliminary examination:
- IBPS PO 2020 preliminary examination is just a qualifying exam.
- Candidates who will qualify IBPS PO 2020 prelims examination will be eligible to appear in IBPS PO 2020 main examination.
- Marks of this exam will not be considered in final result.
- In order to qualify IBPS PO 2020 main examination, there will be section cutoff and overall cutoff.

IBPS PO main examination pattern in detail
Mode of examination: IBPS PO 2020 main examination will be organised in both online and offline modes.
Sections: IBPS PO 2020 main examination will include 4 sections English, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, and General Awareness.
IBPS PO 2020 main examination descriptive paper will have 2 questions Letter Writing and Essay writing.
Duration of exam: The time duration for objective paper will be 3 hours and for descriptive question will be 30 minutes.
Types of Question: IBPS PO 2020 main examination will have 155 MCQs and 2 descriptive questions.
Each MCQ will have 5 options and only 1 will be correct.

- There will be sectional cutoff and overall cutoff.
- A specific time will be allotted to each section of IBPS PO 2020 main examination.
- The names of candidate scored higher scores will be on the top of the cutoff list.

IBPS PO 2020 exam pattern for interview
- Candidates who will qualify IBPS PO main examination will be eligible for interview.
- Interview round will contain 100 marks.
- This is the final stage of IBPS PO 2020 examination and have 20% weightage in final list.
- In this stage, communication skills and personality of the candidate is examined.
Important points for IBPS PO 2020 interview round
- Candidates of general category must score atleast 40% marks to qualify this round. In case of reserved category must score at least 35% marks.
- Final list will be prepared on the basis of performance in IBPS PO 2020 mains and interview round.
- IBPS PO combined scored will be declared according to the marks obtained by candidates in mains and interview round with ratio of 80:20.
- After the interview round, provisional allotments will take place according to the number of vacancies.
