In the adjoining figure, poins A, B, C and D lie on the circle. AD = 24 and BC = 12. What is the ratio of the area of $\triangle CBE$ to that of the triangle $\triangle ADE$ ?
Solution
$\Delta CBE$ ~ $\Delta ADE$
$\Delta CBE$ and $\Delta ADE$ having same height.
so, $\dfrac{Area~ of~ \Delta CBE}{Area~ of~ \Delta ADE} = \dfrac{12}{24} = \dfrac{1}{2}$
